While we have yet to get our hands on one, the new iPhone 4 is an amazing phone. We’ll post more opinions and reviews of it as we get more hands-on time, but we wanted to let you know about its feature set asap.

Features:

Antenna Unlike any phone I’ve ever seen, the stainless steel band around the outside of the phone is also the antenna. It is the exoskeleton, the strength of the phone.

5 Megapixel Camera/HD Video New with an LED flash that doubles as a video light. 720p video as 30 frames per second make this a serious contender for device of the year!

Batter Life With a smaller CPU, the iPhone 4 battery has been made larger providing up to 40% more talk time.

Retina Display – 960×640 @ 326 PPI makes the iPhone 4 the phone with the highest resolution display to date. Apple® has effectively quadrupled the number of pixels on the screen making everything look vivid and near-perfect. The screen was already amazing, but to achieve this amazes us. They have engineered a new way of attaching the LCD display to the glass which further reduces refraction and increases the visual clarity of the display.

The Glass Apple has used chemistry to stiffen the glass screen to be 20 times stiffer and 30 times harder than plastic. They are using the same type of glass as is used in helicopters and high-speed trains. This makes it more scratch resistant than ever. The glass on the front is also used on the back of the phone.

Application Folders If you’re like me, you have a TON of apps. Now it’s easier than ever to organize these into logical groupings called folders. Drag apps on top of other apps and a folder is created automatically and is automatically named according to the type of apps you’re grouping together. Simple and smart.

Mail The mail app is better than ever. Check multiple accounts using a single unified inbox and organize email threads into conversations ala Gmail.

Multi-Tasking iPhone 4 makes multi-tasking as simple as using the home button we’re already familiar with. This means that if you’re on a call on Skype you can check your email too. Or keep your GPS app running in the background while you update your Facebook status. You can even listen to music and the volume of the music will lower for the spoken turn-by-turn directions.

FaceTime – Video Calling. Requires an iPhone4® connected via WiFi on both ends. However, with millions of iPhones sold (or will be sold), this is an increasingly viable option.
I love how Apple ignores the “which came first, the chicken or the egg” dilemma. They unashamedly do great things without apology.
